How much do you know about wheelchairs?

The most important consideration when choosing a wheelchair is its size. The main parts where wheelchair users bear weight are around the ischial tuberosity of the buttocks, around the femur, around the fossa and around the scapula. The size of the wheelchair, especially the width of the seat, the depth of the seat and the height of the backrest, and the distance from the pedal to the seat cushion will affect the blood circulation of the occupant's relevant parts of the force, and cause skin abrasions and even pressure sores. In addition, the safety of the patient, the ability to operate, the weight of the wheelchair, and the appearance of the place of use must also be considered.

Selection issues:

1. Seat width: measure the distance between the buttocks or the two thighs when sitting down, add 5cm, that is, there is a gap of 2.5cm on each side after sitting down. If the seat is too narrow, it will be difficult to get on and off the wheelchair, buttocks and thighs will be oppressed; if the seat is too wide, it will be difficult to sit firmly, it will be inconvenient to operate the wheelchair, the limbs will tire easily, and it will be difficult to enter and exit the gate.

2. Seat length: Measure the horizontal distance from the rear buttocks to the gastrocnemius of the calf when sitting down, and subtract 6.5cm from the measurement result. If the seat is too short, the weight will mainly fall on the ischia, which will easily cause excessive local pressure; if the seat is too long, it will oppress the popliteal fossa, affect local blood circulation, and easily irritate the skin. For patients with shorter thighs or hip and knee flexion contractures, it is better to use a short seat.

3. Cushion In order to be comfortable and prevent bed sores, a cushion should be placed on the chair of the wheelchair. Common cushions include foam rubber pads (5-10cm thick) or gel pads. In order to prevent the seat from sinking, a 0.6cm thick plywood can be placed under the cushion.

4. Supporting degree: When sitting down, the upper arm is vertical, the forearm is placed flat on the armrest, and the height from the seat surface to the lower edge of the forearm is measured, plus 2.5cm. Proper armrest height helps to maintain correct body posture and balance, allowing the upper body to be placed in a comfortable position. If the support is too high, the upper arm is forced to lift up and is prone to fatigue. If the support is too low, the upper body needs to lean forward to maintain balance. Not only is it easy to fatigue, but it can also affect breathing.

The inability of wheelchair patients to move freely is one of the most painful things for us. When the patient wakes up, we have to move it from the bed to the wheelchair. It is a very troublesome thing. For many times, we will not have much impact after we are familiar with it, but for those who are new to contact, it is not so easy to complete the task. Let's talk about how to move the wheelchair patient to the wheelchair!

The height of the bed should be close to that of the wheelchair seat, the head of the bed should be equipped with short armrests, and the wheelchair should be equipped with brakes and detachable footrests. The wheelchair is placed on the patient's healthy side. The wheelchair and the end of the bed are at a slight angle (30. ~45. ).

1. The patient sits next to the bed, first lock the brake of the wheelchair;

2. Bend the knee of the healthy limb to above 90°, and move the foot of the healthy side to the rear of the foot of the affected side, so as to facilitate the free rotation of the two feet;

3. The patient moves his hand to the middle of the armrest on the far side of the wheelchair, and moves his feet so that he is ready to sit down;
