The rules of wheelchair tennis in the Paralympic Games are basically similar to those in the Olympic Games. During the competition, the athletes shall not bear the guidance of the trainers. Except for the following special rules, wheelchair tennis competition is completely similar to the tennis rules formulated by the International Tennis Federation.
Two jump criterion
Wheelchair tennis players allow the ball to land twice during the competition. The player must fight back before the ball hits the ground for the third time. The second landing can be in or out of bounds.
Wheelchairs
Wheelchairs are considered to be part of the body. All rules related to the body of athletes are practical.
The competition wheelchair is lighter than the ordinary life wheelchair, which is composed of seat, footrest, front small footboard, rear anti rollover equipment, rear tire and other components.
serve
Serve according to the following method. Be ready immediately before serving, and the server should be in a fixed position. Allow the server to push the wheelchair forward before hitting the ball.
During the whole service process, the wheel of the server's wheelchair shall not touch other areas except the area enclosed between the assumed extension line and sideline of the middle mark and in front of the end line.
If a quadriplegic athlete cannot serve with the usual service method, another person can throw the ball for the athlete. However, every time you serve, you have to take a different method. The grading doctor shall indicate on the grading card.
Lose points
An athlete loses points if:
The player could not return the ball before the third landing;
During the live ball period, when serving, hitting, turning, stopping the wheelchair or reverse wheel, the athlete uses any part of his foot or lower limbs to brake or maintain balance. Except for three limb amputees.
When hitting the ball, the athlete did not insist that one side of the hip was in contact with the wheelchair seat.
Push the wheelchair with your feet
If an athlete does not have the ability to drive a wheelchair through a wheel, he can drive the wheelchair with one foot.
Even under the above rules, an athlete is allowed to use one foot to drive the wheelchair, including when the racket hits the ball; From the act of starting the serve to when the racket hits the ball, the rest of the foot cannot touch the air.
If an athlete violates the above rules, he will lose points.
Note: the description of lower limbs is: lower limbs, including hips, hips, thighs, lower legs, ankles and feet.
