Long term bedridden patients are prone to complications such as bedsore, muscle atrophy and hub stiffness. Therefore, with the help of wheelchairs, bedridden patients can regularly go outdoors to improve blood circulation and arm strength recovery.

It must be noted that assisting patients in getting on and off wheelchairs is only applicable to patients who can't walk but can sit up.

Step 1: check wheelchair

First, check whether all parts of the wheelchair are intact, the brake is fixed, turn over the pedal, put the front wheels of the wheels, push the wheelchair to the end of the bed, the seat back is flush with the end of the bed, and the opening faces the head of the bed.

Step 2: hold the patient and sit up

Assist the patient to sit up, turn back, hang his legs at the bedside and put on shoes for the patient.

Step 3: hold the patient in a wheelchair

Assist the patient to sit in the wheelchair. During the operation, pay attention to the maintenance of the operator's figure and the force saving criterion. The operator leaves his two feet back and forth, one leg against the patient's leg, put his two hands on the operator's shoulder and exert the force together, so that the patient can gently press the operator's shoulder. The operator's two hands are inserted on the patient's waist, get up together and help the patient to the wheelchair, Hold the handrail with one hand and quietly help the patient to sit in the wheelchair.

Step 4: help the patient sit well

Turn down the foot pedal, put the patient's foot on the pedal, tell the patient to sit back and hold the handrail with both hands. If the patient's physique is weak, you can put the restraint belt on, and then release the brake to push the patient out of the activity.

Note: when it is cold, add clothes for the patient in real time to avoid catching cold. After the activity, the same method can be used to help the patient back to bed.
