How to choose a cushion

1. The seat depth of the wheelchair: The so-called seat depth refers to the distance between the front and back of the seat. The length of this distance should allow the user's entire hip to be effectively supported. In addition, the reasonable seat depth should not be too long, allowing the use of wheelchairs. The backrest conveniently supports the user's lumbar spine. This distance is approximately three-quarters of the length of the user's entire thigh. The shape of the surface of the seat cushion should adapt to the curve of the user's buttocks, so that the concave and convex can complement each other, and have a certain degree of elasticity and support.

2. The seat width of the wheelchair: The seat width refers to the lateral distance between the left and right sides of the wheelchair seat. The distance of the seat width must first meet the horizontal width of the user's buttocks. The width of the buttocks in human dimensions determines the minimum distance for the seat width.

3. Seat depth of the buttocks of the wheelchair: refers to the vertical distance from the lowest point of the bottom of the buttocks to the plane of the seat cushion when a person sits on the seat cushion. We can obtain a more suitable breech seat depth of about 30mm through experimental simulation. Since the pressure of the buttocks on the seat cushion gradually decreases outwards, the depth of the seat cushion should be a reasonable arc design in other directions, which will maintain a certain support for the legs and reduce the burden on the legs.
