The trends and impacts of global aging have become an important topic. According to the United Nations' World Population Prospects 2022, the world's population is expected to peak at 10.3 billion people in 2087 and then slowly decline to 10.2 billion people in 2100. The urbanization process is expected to reach its peak in 2050, when the world's urban population will account for 2/3 of the global population.
Aging has brought about problems such as rising social dependency ratios, increasing pension burdens, rising social security pressures, increasing government debt, and declining social innovation and entrepreneurship vitality. In 2023, China's elderly population aged 65 and above will account for 15.4%, a year-on-year increase of 0.52 percentage points.
As the proportion of the elderly population increases, the demand for medical rehabilitation services rises significantly. Older adults are more likely to suffer from chronic illnesses, degenerative diseases, and motor dysfunction that require regular and long-term rehabilitation.
